It’s no surprise that smartphones have become an integral part of our lives. They are an essential and valued tool for society. What makes smartphones so important is their adaptability to the ever-changing structure of life with the multitude of apps at our disposal. And now you can learn how to create an app with NextGen Bootcamp.

We all have “great” ideas for an app. A simple poll to my three children created a variety of answers, some good and some a bit off the beaten path. But my kids, all under the age of 13, already had ideas for apps. The issue isn’t coming up with the ideas, it’s what to do next.

This is where NextGen Bootcamp’s App Development Summer Camp comes in with a 50- hour iOS Summer course designed to teach you the basics of app development, including a step-by-step process to code working apps. In the summer program, you’ll learn about Swift, the app programming language designed by Apple and with the help of Xcode and its suite of software development tools, you’ll be coding and building your own apps in no time.

Along with learning programming concepts, you’ll build adaptable layouts for iPads and iPhones as well as design interactive elements for your app such as buttons and swipe gestures. You’ll image assets, embed videos, place maps and create external links to other sources of content.

You’ll not only be learning how to incorporate these elements into your app but learn how to utilize them in a way to create a user-friendly app. The user interface is an essential component of app development. You’ll connect user interface to code in order to create a streamlined, interactive experience for the user when using the app.

Once you learn how to do create these elements, you’ll start looking at already developed apps in different ways. I know I do. I use the Our Groceries app when food shopping for the family and I think it could use a few more interactive elements such as images and external links to food product information.

Much of the information you’ll learn in the App Development program will be taught through the building and designing of simple apps like a Tip Calculator, Roll The Dice App and Card War App. This process, along with the concepts and tools you’ll be shown, will culminate in the developing and designing your own app. Your “great” idea for an app will come to life using the skills you’ll learn throughout NextGen Bootcamp.

My daughter, Penelope, desires an app where she can create her own anime backgrounds for her iPod. Right now, there are apps to select backgrounds, but very few where you can draw your own. The skills to create that app is available to her and all students 13-19 years of age. This 2-week 10-week intensive bootcamp is geared towards the next generation of app developers who have a strong interest in coding. All led by a team of qualified instructors with real-world app development experience.

Do you have an app idea that can help make this a better world? How about something to make your life a little easier? The beauty of apps is that there’s no limit to your imagination and NextGen Bootcamp is here to make your imagination a reality.
